NEXT STEPS: Final KDP PDF Preparation

You downloaded an RGB PDF sized correctly ( inches). Now, you MUST convert it for print:

1. Open PDF in Pro Software: Use Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Affinity Photo/Publisher etc.
2. Color Conversion: Convert document/images to CMYK using color profile: U.S. Web Uncoated v2 (or GRACoL / SWOP).
3. Add Text/Elements (Optional): Add final spine/back text now within the CMYK document. Embed fonts.
4. Export Print PDF: Flatten transparency. Export as Print-Quality PDF (maintaining CMYK, use High Quality/Press Quality preset, disable downsampling, NO marks).

Accurate CMYK conversion is VITAL to avoid color shifts in print.

Color Notice: Output is RGB PDF. You MUST manually convert to CMYK for print quality results!

Pro Tips for Best Results

• Start with high-resolution images (300DPI at final print size)
• Leave 0.125" bleed area around all edges
• Keep important text and elements within the safe zone (0.25" from edges)
• For best color results, work in CMYK from the beginning if possible
• Preview your cover at actual size before submitting to KDP
